General terminal and cash register settings > [HTML Version](nastaveni-terminalu-pokladny.html) | | | |------|------| | [![Warning](./images/upozorneni.svg)] | - This procedure shows how to set up static IP addresses that are necessary for smooth communication between the cash register and the third-party payment terminal or other devices in the network ([other cash register](presunuti-uctu-na-pokladnu.md), [Customer display](zakaznicky-displej.md)).
- This chapter is designed for service technicians installing payment terminals or advanced users with experience in configuring active network components. However, the terminal setup is always done by a technician of the company providing services for the bank with access to the terminal.
- For seamless communication between the cash register and wireless peripherals, it is advisable to meet the following [network requirements](sit.md). | For proper intercommunication between devices, you have to make sure both the terminal and cash register have static IP addresses assigned. If the IP address of one of these devices has changed (e.g. after shutdown or restart), the communication will be lost. By default the addresses are assigned to network devices by the DHCP server running on the network component (router) in the establishment. Therefore, you have to connect to this router and adjust the DHCP server settings properly to assign IP addresses only from part of the set network range. So you get free IP addresses for both the cash register and payment terminal out of the range of the DHCP server. You also need to know the LAN network information (router IP address and network mask). To configure the terminal and cash register properly, you need to know the access data to set/configure the router (router IP address, credentials for web administration). You should be provided this information by the establishment owner or manager that is in charge of the network coverage in the given establishment. ## Connecting a device to the local network (LAN) - The terminal is connected to the local network using a LAN cable or wireless using Wi-Fi. - The cash register must be connected to the same network either using a LAN cable or using a Wi-Fi connection. ## [![Click to expand / collapse...](./images/+.svg)]Step 1: Router settings | | | |------|------| | [![Note](./images/poznamka.svg)] | The sequence below describes an example of how to administer a TP-LINK router. Individual items and item names in the administration interface can be different if other routers are used. | | | | |------|------| | [![Step 1](./images/1.svg)] | Open the web browser in the device connected to the network in the establishment, and in the browser address line enter the router URL address (usually 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, or 10.0.0.1). Then enter the username (usually “admin”) and password to log into the router web administration. | | | | |------|------| | [![Step 2](./images/2.svg)] | To get network information go to the item **Status**, where you find the local network (LAN) information. You will need the router IP address and the network mask. | (./images/clip0914.png) | | | |------|------| | [![Step 3](./images/3.svg)] | Then go to the item** DHCP **and DHCP server settings. If the address range provided by the DHCP server covers the whole network capacity, adjust the range’s beginning or ending. Make adjustments to get free IP addresses for the terminal and cash register as well (e.g. you can limit the end address to xxx.xxx.xxx.230). | (./images/clip0915.png) top ## [![Click to expand / collapse...](./images/+.svg)]Step 2: Payment terminal settings Now you need to find out the IP address of your payment terminal. This is usually set by the bank technician when the terminal is commissioned and should be included in the installation report. If you do not know the IP address of your terminal, please contact your terminal provider. | | | |------|------| | [![Note](./images/poznamka.svg)] | For Global Payment terminals that do not run on Android, you can find the IP address by going to **Menu **»** My Terminal **»** Terminal Settings **»** Print**. | | | | |------|------| | [![Tip](./images/tip.svg)] | [This chapter](jak-zjistit-ip-adresu-pt-ingenico.md) shows how to verify the current network configuration (IP address) of the Ingenico payment terminal. | top ## [![Click to expand / collapse...](./images/+.svg)]Step 3: Network settings in the Dotypos cash register The following settings depend on the selected cash register connection. Select the appropriate part according to the cash register connection (using cable or Wi-Fi) ### Wi-Fi connected cash register 1. Open the Android system settings (pull down the upper bar and tap on the cogwheel). 2. Select the item **Wi-Fi**. 3. Long press on the network actually used to connect the cash register and select **Modify network**. 4. Enable **Advanced options**, set **Proxy **-** none**, **IP address settings** - **Static**. 5. In the field **IP address** enter the selected cash register IP address (set up in the terminal), set the network prefix length typically to **24** (provided that router network mask is 255.255.255.0), gateway (**Gateway**) has to be set the same as in the terminal (router IP address). **DNS servers **can be eventually found in the router settings (usually in the item **Status** » **WAN**).(./images/clip0916.png) 6. Check and save the settings. ### Cash register connected via cable 1. Open the Android system settings (pull down the upper bar and tap on the cogwheel). 2. Select the option **More** and then select **Ethernet**. 3. Select the** Ethernet IP mode** and set up **Static IP**. 4. In the field **IP address** enter the selected cash register IP address (set up in the terminal). The gateway (**Gateway**) and network mask can be set up the same way as in the terminal (IP address and router network mask) **DNS servers** can be eventually found in the router settings (usually in the item **Status** » **WAN**). (./images/clip0917.png) 5. Check the settings and click on **CONNECT**. top ## [![Click to expand / collapse...](./images/+.svg)]Step 4: Setting the payment terminal driver in the Dotypos cash register | | | |------|------| | [![Step 1](./images/1.svg)] | From the cash register main screen open Dotypos Marketplace and install the application Payment terminal driver. | (./images/clip0918.png) | | | |------|------| | [![Warning](./images/upozorneni.svg)] | For the proper functioning of the application **Payment terminal driver** you have to install and activate the application **Dotypos\!** | | | | |------|------| | [![Step 2](./images/2.svg)] | On the main screen run the **Payment terminal driver** and agree with the terms and conditions. Use the icon in the upper right corner to open the menu and select **Settings**. The driver settings wizard will appear. Select your provider** **and save the selection. Then select the connection type and save the selection again. | | | | | |------|------|------| | (./images/clip0919.png) | (./images/clip0920.png) | (./images/clip0921.png) | | | | |------|------| | [![Step 3](./images/3.svg)] | Now you have to enter the assigned terminal IP address and also the set the static IP address of the cash register. After setting up the addresses you have to check off that the static addresses of the terminal and cash registers were entered properly. | (./images/clip0922.png) | | | |------|------| | [![Step 4](./images/4.svg)] | On the following screen, you can check the entered information and eventually enable printing a copy of the payment confirmation for the dealer. This option is working only when printing via an external application is set up in the payment terminal (necessary for payment terminals without a printer, e.g. Ingenico iPP320). After checking, save the selected settings. | (./images/clip0923.png) | | | |------|------| | [![Step 5](./images/5.svg)] | Now the terminal should be set up and connected to the cash register. To check whether the connection is set up properly, perform a trial transaction directly from the driver interface. Here you can select the transaction type [![Number 1 in the image](./images/01.png)] and the currency [![Number 2 in the image](./images/02.png)]. However, this setting is not important for this test. Cancel the payment - the result will also appear in the driver application. | (./images/clip0205.png) If you have everything set up correctly and the test transaction went through, see [how the card payment works at the register](platby-kartou.md). top
