In this chapter you will find the general procedure for configuring a scale and connecting it to the touch cash register via a cable. Both the scale and the driver have to be properly configured before use and before connecting to the cash register. The procedure is valid for scales with an RS232 / USB interface communicating via the CAS protocol.
In the case of a non-certified scale connection, you can assign a default tare to products using a special tag. It will then be used directly when the product is weighed.

Before you connect
1.Remember to remove the arresting screw from the bottom of the scale that is attached to its body and prevents it from becoming damaged.
2.Connect the scale via the enclosed power supply.

Connecting to the touch cash register
1.In the Dotypos Marketplace application download and install the Scale Driver.
2.Connect the scale to the touch cash register via the enclosed USB to RS232 cable and the NULL MODEM adapter.

Always connect the USB to RS232 cable to the cash register together with the enclosed NULL MODEM adapter. Otherwise the electronics of the scale could be irreversibly damaged!  |

In some cases, the scale has to be connected to the touch cash register via a powered USB hub. The cable with the NULL MODEM adapter is then connected to the USB hub and the USB hub is connected to the USB port of the touch cash register. You will receive a suitable USB hub together with the touch cash register. |
Driver settings
1.Install the Scale Driver app through the Dotypos Marketplace.
2.Run the Scale Driver settings application from the desktop of the touch cash register.
3.In the application, tap the REQUEST PERMISSION button.
Dotypos settings
1.Run the Dotypos application and select the weighted product in the Item Management.
2.In the product properties, select the weight unit in the Basic info tab. We recommend using kg. The selling price will then be for one kilogram.
3.In the product properties, enable the option Requires manual quantity entry (weighted) in the Price tab and save the change.
4.If needed, also assign a default tare to the product with the special tag -tare-default-<weight in kg>, e.g. -tare-default-0.200. The tare will then be selected automatically when weighing.
5.Now, when billing, the weighed quantity will be entered automatically.
Weighted products are also supported by the Mobile Waiter. The weight and the corresponding price are therefore also displayed when the product is billed via the Mobile Waiter to which the scale is connected.

To prevent inaccurate weighing, we recommend activating the Require stable weight option in the Application settings. |
