Quick notes (variants) are used to quickly create any number of different variants of a single product as information for the staff or the customer. However, it will still be the same product with one sales price; only this product is always stocked out / stocked in. Quick notes are printed on the receipt, so the customer can see them.

You can use variants, for example, to distinguish batches of drinks (retail) or food, such as steaks (hospitality). You insert variants in the same way as tags, by typing them in and confirming with the DONE button on the keyboard.

Notes on products allow you, at the time of sale, to select information related to the sold product that is also visible to the customer. They do not therefore turn the product into several separate variants. The cash register always works only with the original product that contains the notes. So if you need to sell / stock, for example, several variants of the same T‑shirt by size, it is necessary to create a separate product for each T‑shirt size.

Example of using quick notesYou add quick notes (variants) 122, 123 and 124 to the product Wine, which represent the batches of individual bottles. During the sale, before the product is actually charged, a dialog will be displayed for selecting a variant (batch), and only then will the product be added to the order. Similarly, you can use quick notes when selling steaks. You create the variants RARE, MEDIUM and WELL DONE. When selling, you select the required doneness variant and with this variant you add the product to the customer’s order. The original product will always be added to the order and information about the selected variant will be attached to it. Quick notes therefore add the selected information about the sold product to the order.

Short description (e.g. a list of allergens or recycling fee) will be displayed on the product line in an open or parked account if the product does not have an EAN code defined. In this case the EAN code will be displayed on the product line instead of the short description. The short description will also be printed on the tax receipt under the product name and can also be found on the Note tab in the product properties in the parked / created order.

Long description is used as possible information for the administrator or product description in the order systems. It is therefore only displayed in the product properties and in the menu for ordering systems. This description is nowhere printed or displayed to the operator.

See this chapter for details on where each of the above information is printed.
